Vision-Board Workshop

Workshop Summary: 

This interactive workshop is designed to empower young people by integrating African cultural wisdom with modern goal-setting techniques. Using African symbols, proverbs, and storytelling, participants will create vision boards that reflect their aspirations, strengths, and values. The workshop encourages self-discovery, confidence, and a deep connection to African heritage while equipping youth with practical tools to visualize and achieve their dreams. Participants will learn how to set intentions, manifest their goals, and align their vision with symbols rooted in African traditions, such as Adinkra from Ghana, Nsibidi from Nigeria, or Egyptian hieroglyphs.

Course Objectives:

Empower Participants – Encourage self-discovery and goal-setting through culturally meaningful symbols. Enhance Visualization – Help participants use African symbols to represent their dreams, values, and aspirations. Inspire Cultural Connection – Educate attendees on the significance of African symbols and their relevance in personal and collective growth.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Personal Development & Goal Setting: Develop a growth mindset by visualizing success and identifying steps to reach their dreams.
  2. Cultural Awareness & Identity: Gain knowledge of African symbols, proverbs and other cultural tools
  3. Creativity & Self-Expression: Develop artistic and creative skills while designing personalized vision boards.

About the Presenter:

Paul Osbourne has over 20 years of experience developing culturally responsive programs for Black and racialized youth in the GTA. He is a certified Rites of Passage facilitator (NROPI ) and both facilitated and managed GTA’s first Rites of Passage program for African Canadian Youth. On a national level he has developed workshops and youth engagements in Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa and Prince George, British Columbia. Internationally he has presented on using African-Centred interventions to positively impact the lives of black and racialized youth in Finland, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and Ghana. He is the founder of Nsaa Community Cultivating. Nsaa supports organizations that work with African Canadian youth and their families through culturally relevant staff training, workshops and program development.
