We all desire to have strong relationships with unbreakable bonds. The reality is, though, sometimes those relationships falter and our role in that can be overlooked. The purpose of this workshop is to have a critical conversation surrounding the way we think about relationships with ourselves, our families, peers, and communities. Nothing changes unless you do first, and the power to make decisions as it relates to who we are connected to often lies within us.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify, acknowledge, and discuss strategies to manage emotions as we experience them.
  2. Discuss some of the ways youth have been socialized to believe what healthy versus unhealthy relationships are.
  3. Create more awareness of how emotions affect decision-making.

Expertise:

J’Mone currently serves in the role as Youth Liaison Worker for the Durham District School Board where he has supported students over the last 12 years. He attended York University, studying in the Sociology program, and began his career working at CAMH (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health). Shortly after, he began his route to education by working in recreational roles throughout Scarborough and the GTA.

With his experience in supervisory roles, both for after school programs and placement students in training, J’Mone further expanded in wisdom and the importance of serving others. J’Mone offers new perspectives while challenging mindsets, providing consistent mentorship to those on their personal journeys to achievement.
